Work-in of the week

It’s world gratitude day on 21st September, not only should you make an effort to say thank you to someone else, you can also be grateful for what you have.

Taking a moment to appreciate yourself for what you have and the hard work it took to achieve it can really change your perspective. Instead of focusing on self-criticism and feeling like you’re lacking, recognising your own strengths, resilience, and resources can light up positive pathways in your brain. This practice helps reduce stress and anxiety by calming your nervous system, swapping self-doubt for a sense of control and contentment. By valuing your own journey, you can lift your mood, build emotional resilience, cultivate deeper self-compassion, and enjoy a more lasting sense of well-being.

To coincide with world gratitude day our work out of the week this week is all about building gratitude as a positive word habit.

National gratitude day is 21st September. Gratitude costs nothing but means everything!

Building consistent gratitude as a habit

Consistency builds culture. Perform this short routine daily to build organisational capability:

Daily AM:

  • Time Required: 3 Minutes

  • Movement: Before opening your inbox or tackling administrative tasks, identify one colleague whose effort made your workload manageable yesterday.

  • Execution: Send a 2 to 3 sentence message specifying what they did, how it helped, and why you appreciate it.

Weekly:

  • Time Required: 5 Minutes (End of Week)

  • Movement: During team wrap-ups or operational debriefs, highlight one "behind-the-scenes" contribution that would otherwise go unnoticed (e.g., IT setup, administrative log-clearing, document formatting).
